Idiomatic expressions and words with colloquial meaning

Idiomatic expressions are combinations or collocations of words which cannot be translated word for word. The words in idiomatic expressions do not take a literal or dictionary meaning, their meaning comes from the situation or context they apply to.
there are extremely common and are found in all kinds of English, both formal and particularly informal.

The phrases "there is" and "there are" indicate that something or a group of things exist or do not exist. Using the pronoun there as a subject in these example sentences stresses the fact that the "the fly" or "the mistakes" exist. By using "there" in the sentences, the speaker makes a clear declarative statement, drawing more attention to his statement.

3.2 at the supermarket



  1. The objective of this topic is to know preposition, wh questions making and use of vocabulary of the supermarket
  2. Supermarkets are now an integral part of the community in 21st century living. Every community has at least one supermarket. These range in size from huge buildings with 15 aisles or more to smaller ones with three or four aisles.  The size of the stands is also variable. In bigger supermarkets these can have five to eight shelves while others have only two or three shelves. A shopper can find many, many things in a supermarket from a book of matches to a refrigerator.
  3. Supermarkets are very important in your life, we can find in them a lot of stuff for buying, like food and clothes. In the same time, they are perfect examples for practice all new vocabulary about positions and stuff. The wh question also can be practice in a supermarket, because questioning about prices and things can upgrade your language and vocabulary information about your city

-       We have discounts in a week. They begin the Monday.
